Jimmy Garrett of Marshall Municipal Services sweeps snow from the walks in front of the City Office Building early Monday, Feb. 8. Garrett was among a crew of three making sure the walkways were clear of an inch of snow that fell overnight.

While snow accumulation was not great, travel in the area proved to be hazardous.

Between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m., Marshall police responded to eight traffic accidents, said Assistant Chief of Police David Roscher.

He added that there were two more he knew of that were minor enough to not require a police report.

People were "just driving too fast for conditions" in several of the accidents, he said.

A number of schools dismissed classes early or cancelled classes and activities for Monday.
