Clarence "Rudy" Workcuff Jr., 65, of Kansas City, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at St. James United Methodist Church, in Kansas City, Mo., with Pastor Emanuel A. Cleaver III officiating. Rev. Emanuel A. Cleaver II delivered the eulogy. Burial was in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City. Pallbearers were Reggie Walton, Royce Turner, Lamar Wilson Jr., Deke Clayborn, Keith Rainey, Bryan Austin, Rainey Crawford and Franklin Walker. Honorary pallbearers were William T. Workcuff Sr., Galen Workcuff Jr., LaCarl Gilbert Sr., Leslie Bowen Jr., Kevin Workcuff, DeShon Workcuff, LaMont Gilbert Sr. and William Jerry Harris.
Born Jan. 16, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan., he was the son of the late Clarence Workcuff and Bertha Mae Evelyn Frieson, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Lexington school district. He retired in 2003 as a safety training supervisor with the City of Kansas City Aviation Department.
He is survived by one son Jerome Conley of Lexington; two daughters, Stephanie Workcuff of Sedalia and Diana Workcuff of Marshall; six sisters, Cheryl Workcuff and Gail Workcuff-Walton, both of Kansas City; LaRue Gilbert of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sheila Chamberlin of West Palm Beach, Fla., Emma Turner of Springfield, and Claravonnah Jean Workcuff of Marshall; four brothers, Rev. Galen Workcuff of Kansas City, LeRoi Workcuff of Oklahoma City, Okla., Curtis Workcuff and Clarence Roy Workcuff, both of Marshall; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepmother Leota Clark of Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews.
