Edith Smarr Douglas, 95, of Columbia, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.

Born in Topeka, Kan., on Oct. 11, l914, she was the daughter of Robert L. and Hattie Smarr. On Jan. 21, 1941, in Columbia, she married Harold Douglas, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of University of Missouri and noted horticulturalist and genealogist. She judged flower shows and collaborated on several genealogy books, including "Kaleidoscopic Family" printed in Lubbock, Texas, in l971. She lived most of her life in Marshall, where she was a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter Mary Bancroft and husband, Michael, of Columbia; one son, Robert Douglas, of Springfield; grandchildren, Anna Walters, Alan Bancroft, Josh and Bruce Douglas; and two great-grandchildren.
