Jeanne M. Walton, 80, of Sedalia, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Fair View Nursing Home in Sedalia.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Fr. Linus Evers officiating. Pallbearers were sons, Perry, Eric, Stuart and Flint; and grandsons, Luke and Ian. Burial was in the family cemetery at All Saints Cemetery near Glasgow. A scripture service was held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel; visitation followed until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Therapy Center in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, 519 S. Born June 19, 1929, in Gilliam, she was the daughter of Delbert and Agatha Louise (Sellmeyer) Taylor. On June 27, 1953, in Kansas City, she married Oliver "Red" Perry Goss Walton, who preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1988. She was a 1947 graduate of Slater High School. She was an RN and gradued from The College of St. Teresa Department of Nursing in 1950, receiving the Outstanding Student Award. She began her nursing career in 1950, working in Kansas City and then in Marshall. She worked at Bothwell Regional Health Center from March 1, 1955 to February 1992, as head nurse of the obstetrics department. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
She is survived by four sons, Perry, of Glasgow, Stuart, of St. Louis, and Eric and Flint, both of Georgetown; a brother, William D. Taylor, of Kansas City; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann L. Taylor.
