James Clayton Ruppert, 75, of Warrensburg, formerly of Slater, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Slater United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jess Spurgin officiating. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials are suggested to Slater United Methodist Church or Missouri Veterans Home, in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born May 8, 1934, in Anna, Ill., he was the son of the late Clayton E. and Myra McKenzie Ruppert. He was a member of Slater United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany. He was a graduate of Slater High School and University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. He worked as a school superintendent in Michigan and retired after a number of years as a professor of psychology at Muskegon Community College in Muskegon, Mich. He returned to Slater in 1989 and moved to Warrensburg in 2001.
He is survived by two brothers, Ralph Wayne Ruppert of Kansas City, and Rev. Robert Ruppert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Fran Ruppert Donnelly of Slater; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Richard Ruppert.
