Lemer Wilson Meador, 90, of Sweet Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at I-70 Medical Center in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Victor Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Born Dec. 2, 1919, in Hardin, he was the son of the late Clarence Meador and Ida Meryl Reardon Meador. On Sept. 4, 1949, he married Mildred Grimes, who survives of the home. He lived in Sweet Springs most of his life and worked at Bernard Lumber until his retirement. He was a member of Sweet Springs Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Navy Seabee veteran of World War II and was a member of Sweet Springs American Legion Post 279. He served as a volunteer for Sweet Springs Fire Department and served on Sweet Springs Park Board.
Survivors include his children, Clydette Anderson of Knob Noster, Wayne Cross of Blackburn, Judy Reinitz of Sweet Springs, Marc Meador of Warrensburg, Tammy Schlueter of Concordia, and Darren Meador of Sweet Springs; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Backues of Sweet Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Von Alan Meador; seven grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.
