Charles R. "Charlie" Crawford, 71, of Durant, Okla., and Las Vegas, Nev., died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at his home, of cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel, 4900 W US 70 in Durant, Okla. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the celebration of life service. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Hazel Grove Cemetery in Herndon, with Corrick Crawford, Sam Ryan, Alex Ryan, Scott Locher, Hahns Schafer and Lee Shattuck serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Medley, Carl Crawford, Wayne Gaddy, Ed Dysart, Tom Vogl, Vincent Shrader and Don Dillard. Memorials are suggested to Sunshine Hospice in Durant, Okla., First Christian Church Bereavement Committee in Marshall or Hazel Grove Cemetery in Herndon.

Born May 23, 1938, in Blue Lick, he was the son of Samuel Raymond and Elta (George) Crawford. He graduated from Marshall Public Schools and was currently the CEO of Crawford Machine Service Inc. On July 28, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Betty Edwards, who survives of the home. He was a member of the Elks, a life member of the Safari Club and a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Charles Edward Crawford and his wife, Cathy, of Marshall, Diana Bretthorst and her husband, Joe, of Ashland, and Sherri Ryan and her husband, Mark, of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, George Crawford and his wife, Charlene, of Marshall, and James L. Crawford and his wife, Sue, of Ashland; grandchildren, Corrick Crawford and Chandra Crawford, both of Marshall, Cody Bretthorst and Samantha Bretthorst, both of Ashland, and Sam Ryan and Alex Ryan, both of Seattle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Lacy Marie Ryan.
