William Fielding Spiller, M.D., 87, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at The Woodlands, Texas.
Services were held Dec. 29, 2009, in Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, Houston, Texas.
Born March 1, 1922, in Galveston, Texas, he was the son of Dr. J.B. Spiller and Geraldine Caldwell Spiller. He attended Rice Institute (now University) and graduated from University of Texas Medical School -- Galveston in 1945. On March 24, 1945, he married Rachel Glyn Ford, in Houston, who preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 1998. On March 16, 1999, he married Lullene Powell Knox, who survives of the home in Lake Livingston, Texas. He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Army until his discharge in 1949. He started his medical practice in Houston in 1951; and his wife, Rachel, joined him in the medical practice until her death. He was a past president of the Texas Dermatological Society and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as numerous other professional and civic organizations.
In addition to his wife, Lullene, he is survived by one daughter, Jan Spiller Ravenhill, and her husband, Robert Ravenhill, of Marshall; three grandchildren, Rachel Ravenhill Brown and her husband, Robert Brown, of O'Fallon, Ill., Martha Ravenhill of Chicago, Ill., and Gerri Ravenhill of Dallas, Texas; and one great-grandson, William Brennan Brown.
In addition to his wife, Rachel, he was preceded in death by his parents.
