Anna L. Hemme, 83, of Slater, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Slater Christian Church. Rev. John Swisher will officiate. Bethany Weiker, organist, will accompany the congregation in singing "It Is Well With My Soul" and "Amazing Grace." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Venable, Don Boyd, Greg Jones, Jeff Harves, Bill Fain and Josh Arnold. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the church or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice.
Born Oct. 27, 1926, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late Richard A. and Nelle Keyton Venable. On Oct. 20, 1946, in Slater, she married Charles O. Hemme, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1996. She was a longtime member of Slater Christian Church, where she previously taught the Rosebuds Sunday school class. She was a bookkeeper at State Bank of Slater for 44 years.
She is survived by a sister, Nellie Jones, of Lee's Summit and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. "Rick" Hemme; and two sisters, Elma Venable Dawson and Bettye Lou Venable.
