According to information in the probable cause statement, Kalwei wrote a check for $2,400 to a Marshall business in March. The check was returned marked "unable to locate," and has not been paid.
If convicted, Kalwei could serve up to seven years in Missouri Department of Corrections, or up to one year in county jail, and/or pay up to a $5,000 fine.
Charges contained in reports provided by law enforcement officials are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting charges must be presented before a jury, whose duty is to determine if the accused is guilty or not guilty of the charges.
