Julia M. "G.G." Divine, 78, of Marshall, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Missouri Cancer Associates. Born May 20, 1931, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Green and Nellie Scott Green. She was a 1949 graduate of Marshall High School and had lived in the Sweet Springs and Marshall areas most of her life. On May 15, 1953, she married Lloyd K. Divine, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1985. She worked for many years in the Post Exchange at Whiteman Air Force Base and later worked at Marshall Habilitation Center. After her retirement, she served as a foster grandparent for the Marshall School District. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshall and was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 279 Auxiliary in Sweet Springs and VFW Post 2646 Auxiliary in Marshall and also a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include one son, David Divine of the state of Florida; one daughter, Swana Gilmore and companion, Tony Adams, of rural Marshall; one granddaughter of this area, Kristina Jasper and husband, Brian, of Marshall, and their sons, Jairon and Zane.
