Vivian Louise Bachler, 80, of Marshall, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Graveside services and interment were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Holden Cemetery, under the direction of Ben Cast & Son -- Wood Funeral Home, with Dr. Lindy Reed officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Holden First Baptist Church.
Born Oct. 31, 1929, in Goodman, she was the daughter of George Washington and Lillian (Garner) Hickman. She graduated from high school in Goodman and attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar. She taught kindergarten and elementary school in May, Joplin, Carl Junction and Holden. On July 18, 1952, she married Arthur Leroy Bachler in Bentonville, Ark., who preceded her in death on May 8, 1993. She lived in Goodman, Joplin and Holden before moving to Marshall in 2005. She was a member of Holden First Baptist Church, where she was a church pianist and Sunday school teacher for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Dierking of Marshall and Diana L. Romans of Butler, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Mead Hickman, and a granddaughter.
