Gwendolyn L. "Gwen" Young, 92, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, with Rev. Kathleen Schmidtke officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Big Bend Retreat. Born June 19, 1917, in Mt. Leonard, she was the daughter of the late Carl Ussery and Ruth Funk Ussery. On Jan. 31, 1972, in Marshall, she married Charles E. Young, who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1982. She graduated from Malta Bend High School and was a beautician for more than 40 years in Marshall. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall.
Survivors include one brother, Kenneth Ussery and wife, Hattie, of Oak Grove; one brother-in-law, Jim Young and wife, Lucille, of Houstonia; two nieces, Gyla Martin of Lake Lotawana and Tina Ussery-Franklin and husband, Wade, of Oak Grove; two great-nieces, Lindsay Maasen and Casey Haase of Oak Grove; two great-nephews, Jake Franklin and Tanner Franklin of Oak Grove; and one great-great-niece, Gentry Maasen of Oak Grove.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Ussery.
