Russell Lee Plattner, 59, of Grand Pass, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at Moberly Regional Hospital in Moberly.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grand Pass Community Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Russell Lee Plattner FFA Scholarship at Santa Fe High School or Waverly Lions Club. Born Nov. 23, 1950, in Waverly, he was the son of the late Russell Coad Plattner and Mary Louise Schmidt Plattner, who survives of Waverly. He was a 1968 graduate of Santa Fe High School. On January 18, 1991, he married Becky Lee Reynolds Orear, who survives of the home. He had lived in the Grand Pass and Waverly area his entire life and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ in Grand Pass and was a charter member of Santa Fe Agri-Leaders and Missouri Young Farmers/Young Farmers' Wives. He was also a member of Mid-Missouri Ethanol Energy Plant and Waverly Lions Club.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Jamie Orear of Waverly and Michaela Orear of Warrensburg; two sisters, Rose Mary Thomas and husband, Jim, of rural Marshall and Barbara Jean Warner of Waverly; two brothers, Dale Plattner and Spencer Plattner and wife, Barb, all of Waverly; mother-in-law, Joyce Dambacher; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bill Dambacher.
