Joseph G. "Joe" Castle, 79, of rural Marshall, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Feb. 24, 1930, in Shackelford, he was the son of the late William J. Castle and Winifred Jacoby Castle. On Aug. 9, 1958, he married Kathryn Sue Buie, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a farmer. He joined the Catholic church at an early age and was a 4-H leader for many years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean conflict.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Cindy Castle of rural Marshall and Vicki Bledsoe and husband, Ron, of rural Miami; two grandchildren, Linzi Rhea Bledsoe and Matthew Grant Bledsoe; one brother, William D. Castle of Columbia; two sisters, Sr. Eleanor Castle of Kansas City and Sara Morris of Prairie Village, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
