Sweet Springs Food Pantry workers got some help from Kansas City Power & Light employees Wednesday, Nov. 18, as part of KCP&L's company-wide campaign "renewable energy from the heart."

KCP&L Employees Heather Allred, Vic Taylor, Kathy Gaughan, Linda Reid and Corey Miller, alongside James Jones and Bill Meyer from The Lighthouse Shelter, helped Sweet Springs Food Pantry workers transfer the food in one truck to another in Marshall before the newly-laden truck headed to Sweet Springs. This is a once-a-month volunteer effort for KCP&L workers.

"We realize all the struggles people have right now with the economy," said Miller, manager of construction and maintenance for KCP&L's east district. "We try to give back to the communities we serve whenever we can."

He added, "Every little bit helps if we all pitch in."
