The Community Food Pantry in Marshall received two donations from area organizations Thursday, Nov. 12.

Dean Nelson, representing Whitetails Unlimited, handed food pantry chairman Ron Duvall $1,000, half of which will go to fund the food pantry, with the other half going to Share the Harvest, which allows deer hunters to donate a felled deer by taking it to Smith Locker in Slater. Hunters will pay $20 and the food pantry will pay the remaining $10 of the cost for Smith Locker employees to process the deer, which will then be made available at the Community Food Pantry. This donation will pay for the processing of the first 50 deer to be donated.

Phyllis Marcum, on behalf of the Knights of Columbus Ladies' Auxiliary, presented Duvall a check for $100.

She said there will be a food drive to benefit the food pantry during all of December 2009 at St. Peter Catholic Church.
