Lamberson (bottom row, center) signed an NCAA letter-of-intent last week with the Division II program. A four-time qualifier for the MSHSAA Championships, Lamberson medaled the last three years: 12th in the Class 2 meet in 2007, a tie for 7th in Class 1 as a junior and sharing third in the rain-shortened Class 1 event last month at Sedalia.
"It fit my academic needs," Lamberson explained her attraction to Drury. As for the golf team, "they seem like they work hard and that it's important."
During head coach Lisa Tinkler's six seasons, the Lady Panthers have won three conference championships, gone to three East Regional tournaments and placed twice at nationals -- eighth in 2005 and fourth in 2007.
Over the past two seasons, Lamberson has medaled in 14 of 16 tournaments, winning 11 -- including back-to-back NCMC titles.
Flanking Lamberson at the signing ceremony were her parents, Mike (left) and Cindy Lamberson, with (top row) Lady Owls head coach John Weaver, Marshall Athletic Director Scott Latham and maternal grandparents Joan and Jim Hinrichs watching on.
