Charter buses for fans available for Vikings championship series game at Morningside College

The Missouri Valley College Viking football team is headed to Sioux City, Iowa to take on seventh ranked Morningside College in a first-round game of the 2009 NAIA Football Championship Series at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Elwood Olsen Stadium, according to a news release from the college.

A charter bus is available for Viking fans. As space is limited, reservations must be made by paying $30 to the Development Office in Baity Hall Room 222 OR by phone with a credit card by calling Jodi White at 660-831-4177. The fee includes bus ride and a game ticket.

The bus will leave at 5:30 a.m. from the Burns Athletic Complex parking lot and return immediately following the game. Boarding will begin at 5:15 a.m.

MVC is ranked 11th in the nation in the final NAIA regular season poll and is a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC). The Vikings have an 8-2 record and finished third in the HAAC standings with an 8-2 league mark.

This is the eighth overall Championship Series and third in the last four years for the Vikings.

The Vikings earned an at-large berth and have won their last two First Round games. MVC is first in the country in rushing defense with 45.0 yards per game. The team has posted 24.0 sacks through 10 games. The two losses this year have been by a combined nine points. The Vikings have been ranked in the Top 25 poll for 49 straight weeks.

Morningside has a 9-1 record and finished second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) standings. This is the sixth straight appearance in the Football Championship Series.

The Mustangs are 4-1 all-time in the First Round. Morningside earned an at-large berth. The team ranks fourth nationally in scoring offense (49.6) and scoring defense (14.9 ppg). Morningside has been ranked in the last 33 Top 25 polls.

Game tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students (grades K-12 and college students with a valid id) children five and under are free. Game tickets are available at the box office on game day. Gates will open at noon.

Regular season passes and student id's will not grant admission to games in the 2009 NAIA Football Championship Series.
