Marshall man hurt in brush-clearing accident

Saturday, November 14, 2009
A 58-year-old Marshall man was seriously injured Thursday morning, Nov. 12, when he was struck by a falling tree limb while operating a bulldozer in rural Saline County, according to his mother.

Iona Mattox of Warsaw said her son, William Dickey of Marshall, was struck in his abdomen and apparently suffered internal injuries in the accident.

He was taken by ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall and later transferred to University Hospital in Columbia.

His condition Thursday appeared grim, Mattox said, but this morning there appeared to be more hope of recovery.

Mattox said well-wishers should send cards to University Hospital. The hospital provides a Web form for sending greetings to patients at www.muhealth.org/body.cfm?id=345&eformid....
