Saline County Building and Grounds Supervisor Bill Sleeper raises the flag on the new flagpole at the Saline County Courthouse, one of several Veterans Day activities in Marshall Wednesday, Nov. 11. The new 50-foot pole replaces one that was installed by the Knights of Columbus in 1941. The new pole was purchased and installed with the help of a number of local businesses, organizations and individuals. It was set in place Oct. 19. (Geoff Rands/Democrat-News)
