One event in Marshall was the annual Veterans' Breakfast.
Veterans from Marshall and surrounding communities shared a breakfast at Knights of Columbus Hall Wednesday, Nov. 11, co-sponsored by Marshall's chapter of Rotary International.
This is the second year of the cooperative effort between Rotary and the Knights of Columbus. More than 115 veterans from nearly every branch of the military were treated to a hearty meal of sausage and eggs with biscuits and gravy.
Chaplain Colonel David Van Horn of the Civil Air Patrol led the program, which began with the presentation of the colors, the pledge of allegiance and a brief prayer.
Van Horn introduced Marshall Mayor Connie Latimer, who laughingly took credit for Wednesday's beautiful weather, and thanked the veterans for their service. State Rep. Joe Aull, D-Marshall, was also on hand to greet the crowd, adding his thanks to the mayor's.
The Sunshine Singers, conducted by music teacher Deb Foreman, and made up of the second grade classes taught by Kim Coslet and Karla Clause at Southeast Elementary School, provided a brief program of songs to conclude the morning, including "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and "You're a Grand Old Flag."
