County tax revenues remain low

Saline County tax collections continue to be down for the month of November, county commissioners reported at their meeting Tuesday, Nov. 10.

A total of $61,479.56 was collected in November 2009, compared to $66,310.95 for the same month last year. In total, tax collections for 2009 are down by $50,372.90.

Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner said commissioners are preparing budget worksheets to distribute to all county departments.

In other business, commissioners mentioned Veterans Day celebrations to be held at the courthouse Wednesday, Nov. 11. At 10:30 a.m., the Knights of Columbus will dedicate the new flagpole on the north side of the courthouse. At 11 a.m., the annual Veterans Day ceremonies will begin.

Commissioners will also attend the annual Century Farms Celebration Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in the courthouse. They will meet again in regular session Thursday morning at 9 a.m. in the lower level of the courthouse.
