The report alleges Cloyd assaulted a woman in his home by dragging her by the hair and throwing her against a wall, causing a hole in the sheetrock and then attempted to strangle her. The report says Cloyd threw the victim into the yard and slammed the door shut on her foot when she attempted to come back into the house.
This is Cloyd's second arrest for assault. According to online court records, he pleaded guilty to simple assault in 2005 and was fined $100, in addition to serving 30 days in jail and a two-year term of probation.
Cloyd posted a $1,500 cash or surety bond and was released Nov. 5; no court appearance has been scheduled.
Charges contained in reports provided by law enforcement officials are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting charges must be presented before a jury, whose duty is to determine if the accused is guilty or not guilty of the charges.
