Slater city streets are being prepared for crack and seal treatments, Mayor Stephen Allegri said at the city council meeting Tuesday evening, Nov. 3.
The work is just part of regular street maintenance.
"It's all part of our comprehensive street program," Allegri said.
The city has also begun trimming trees near power lines on private and public property, Allegri said.
"If you don't like the way we do it," he said, "you need to do it yourself."
Allegri also mentioned the city's upcoming Veterans Day celebrations, which will be held at 10 a.m. at Slater High School on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Assistant City Administrator Gene Griffith reminded the public that Slater City Hall will be closed Thursday, Nov. 5, for computer updates and training.
In other business, the council briefly discussed the city's animal and motorized vehicle ordinances. The latter will be presented at the council's next meeting.
All council members were present at the meeting.
The council will meet again Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m.
