Marshall had nipped the previous meeting between NCMC rivals earlier this season, 2-1, but this time neither team could break through on the Hornets' pitch until the 85th minute.
That's when senior Alex Tapia, after being stopped twice, found the top left corner of the goal off a pass from sophomore Erik Moreņo. It was Tapia's team-high 25th goal of the season and Moreņo's 13th assist.
The Owls' held a two-to-one advantage in both shots on goal (10-5) and corner kicks (6-3), but senior Will Book came up with nine saves for Fulton (12-8, 5-3 NCMC).
Junior Jacob Phillips notched his eighth shutout with five stops for Marshall (16-3, 8-1), which currently holds a slim lead over Moberly in the league standings heading into today's match at Kirksville.
