It's not too often that Guinness World Book record holders and internationally experienced performers put on a show in Marshall. But on Saturday, Oct. 17, entertainers Robert and Valerie Wolf bring just that and more in Wolf's Howl-O-Ween Magic & Illusion Show, as a fundraising event for The Lighthouse Shelter.

Robert, who has worked as a magician for about 25 years, is one of the only sword swallowers in the Kansas City area. The longest sword he swallows is 23 inches long, he said.

He also holds a Guinness world record for fire eating. His wife, Valerie, will perform razor blade manipulation stunts with her mouth.

Also in the show are magic, illusions, juggling and bullwhip stunts.

"There's something in it for everyone," Robert said.

The magic show will also be somewhat interactive with the audience, including the possibility of bringing people up on stage, Robert said.

"I love audience participation in our show," he said.

The Wolfs perform for charity events every year as a way to give back to the community, but they have also worked with such groups as Cirque du Soleil and musicians like Marilyn Manson and Ozzy Osbourne. They have performed worldwide, including Europe, Asia and the South Pacific.

Robert encouraged Saline County residents to support The Lighthouse Shelter by attending the show.

"The nice thing about this kind of show," he said, "not only is it a benefit for a worthy cause, when people donate they get something back for it."

Wolf's Howl-O-Ween Magic & Illusion Show begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bueker Middle School auditorium. Doors open at 6:15. Tickets are $15 for reserved seating and $10 for general admission. For tickets or more information, call the Lighthouse at 866-9880.
