Marshall Parks and Recreation Department officials and board members gathered at Guthrey Play Area and Peyton Park Wednesday morning, Oct. 14, to officially dedicate the new playground equipment.

Kindergarten students from Eastwood Elementary School and Marshall City Council members joined in the festivities. Also on hand was Jene Crook, who, along with her husband, Wayne, donated $15,000 to the playground project.

Work began on the new playgrounds in March 2009, and they first opened to the public in early July.

Response by Eric Crump/Editor:
This photo was taken at Guthrey Play Area adjacent to the tennis courts at Indian Foothills Park. Another ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted at Peyton Park playground.
