The Marshall senior recovered from a seven-over-par 43 on the front line with two birdies coming in for an 82 to easily defend her title. Although Lamberson's 11-over-par score on the Kirksville Country Club course -- albeit in wet, chilly conditions -- was her highest of the season, she still beat second-place Kirksville junior Toni Browning by 16 strokes.
The Lady Tigers, though, placed four golfers in the top seven to hold on to the team crown with 399 points -- eight lower than Marshall at 407. Moberly (459 points) and Mexico (481) weren't in contention.
Besides Lamberson, freshman Emily Harvey also won an all-conference medal with a 103 to tie Kirksville junior Jessie Hensley for sixth place. Junior Lexie McDanel was 10th at 108 and sophomore Payton Ehrhardt shot a 114 for 12th. Freshman Abrea Mizer was 15th with a 124.
While the Lady Owls are done for the season in team competition, Lamberson and Ehrhardt will head to Sedalia next week for the MSHSAA Class 1 Championships, Lamberson seeking her third all-state medal and Ehrhardt appearing for the first time.
Boys' Soccer: Marshall 8, Boonville 0
BOONVILLE -- Senior Alex Tapia and junior Jon Najera continued their personal shoot-out Tuesday during the Marshall boys' soccer team's 8-0 NCMC victory at Boonville.
Tapia had three goals and Najera scored twice and had two assists, one to Tapia, as each reached the 21-goal mark for the season.
The Owls wasted little time getting on the board, Najera setting up junior Ebert Alvarez in the second minute. Tapia connected twice during the first half on feeds from Najera and sophomore Alan Magana, and Najera found the net for a 4-0 halftime lead.
Tapia scored off a Magana pass four minutes into the second half and Najera struck again in the 12th minute. Marshall added goals from seniors Pedro Ruiz, his first, and Mauricio Hernandez.
The Pirates (4-12, 1-8 NCMC) had only three shots on goal, junior Jacob Phillips stopping them all for his sixth shutout.
The Owls (14-3, 7-1) will be at Jefferson City on Thursday to face sixth-ranked Helias, the defending Class 2, District 7 champion.
Volleyball: Boonville 2, Marshall 0
Junior Haley Slaughter banged down 10 shots and rejected five for Boonville during Tuesday's 25-12, 25-19 NCMC road win over the Marshall volleyball team.
The Lady Pirates (12-11-2, 4-3 NCMC) also got five kills, six digs and 15 assists from senior Brittany Stone to sweep the season series.
Senior Morgan Ryther led the Lady Owls with seven spikes and their lone ace, while senior Kim Deutsch pulled up nine opposing shots and senior Aubrie Plummer assisted 12 of the team's 14 kills.
