Santa Fe volleyball: Lady Chiefs get by Northwest

HUGHESVILLE -- Senior Lauren Aversman's 11 kills, 11 digs and three blocks led the Santa Fe volleyball team Tuesday during a 25-20, 14-25, 26-24 non-conference decision over Northwest at Hughesville.

The Lady Chiefs had to scrap on defense to pull this match out -- senior Cassie Prior, junior Anna Sleeper and sophomores Lindsey Pemberton and Lauren Zitelman coming up with between six and nine digs apiece.

Zitelman also knocked down nine shots and dropped three aces in on the Lady Mustangs (14-13). Junior Molly Sander added six kills and had a team-high 14 assists for Santa Fe.

The Lady Chiefs (12-8-7) will be at home Thursday for a non-conference contest against St. Mary's of Independence, ranked fifth in this week's Class 2 poll.
