In the process, sophomore Tyler Nichols and junior Brock Musick notched state qualifying times -- Nichols with a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.40) and Musick with his top performance in the 100 freestyle (50.42 seconds), both finishing first.
With two swimmers absent, Marshall (180 points) came in third in the team standings behind Blue Springs South (339) and Smith-Cotton (281).
Nichols and Musick were joined by seniors Khris Ward and Eden Elfrink to claim victories in the 200 medley (1:45.78) and freestyle (1:33.79) relays. Nichols was first in the 200 free (1:56.33) and Ward won both the 200 individual medley (2:14.26) and 100 backstroke (1:00.64).
Elfrink recorded his career-best times while placing third in the 200 IM (2:19.44) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.79).
Also posting personal records were junior Mike Marburger in the 50 (28.47) and 100 (1:05.59) freestyle and junior Quaid Hayob in the 500 free (6:46.00).
Nichols has now qualified for state in all eight individual events.
The Owls will compete again Saturday in the Smith-Cotton Invitational at Sedalia.

Local A Rod, thanks for the info. Glad to hear Mason is doing so well and I'm not at all surprised. What a talent!!
Mason Weber has already recorded times faster than any current Irish breastroker. Haven't heard anything about his IM time.
Way to go Owls! Keep up the hard work and we will be seeing you at the State Meet! Marshall is quickly gaining a reputation in the state as a "powerhouse" in swimming thanks, in large part, to the swimmers mentioned in this article. Any word on how Mason Weber is doing at Notre Dame?
