The meet was mostly comprised of small school competition, with team points assigned accordingly, so the Lady Owls -- with the only full squad entered -- won the title with the minimum of 15 points.
However, competing in the greater 41-runner field, junior Katie Wells (20:52.8) placed second to Clinton senior Sierra Jenkins (19:57.7) -- the former Marshall Invitational champion. Sophomore Lauren McGrath (23:18.4), freshmen Alex Farris (23:33.6) and Sam Wells (23:47.2), junior Stormy Morrison (24:09.7) and sophomore Arozo Shahabzada (24:11.0) occupied the sixth through 12th spots.
Senior Erika Martin (25:03.8) was first among 13 runners in the JV girls' race.
Junior Nick Jenkins (18:32.9) came in fourth among 66 varsity boys, the Owls (32 points) finishing behind Pleasant Hill (32) and the host Cardinals (54) in the large-school standings and Clinton senior Derek Lee (17:39.6) coming in first.
Seniors Patrick Todd (19:54.3) and Keeper Kays (20:03.8), junior Jeremy Jalilvand (20:04.1) and senior Henry Yeagle (20:23.5) were 11th through 14th.
Marshall will head to Kirksville on Saturday for the NCMC Championships.
