3 Marshall women hurt in 3-vehicle crash Friday

Three Marshall women suffered minor injuries in a 3-vehicle crash in Saline County Friday afternoon, Oct. 9, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

The crash occurred about 12:43 p.m. on U.S. Highway 65 one-half mile east of Malta Bend when a 2008 Ford driven by Justin T. Malter, 35, of Malta Bend slowed for another vehicle making a turn, according to the report.

A 1999 Pontiac driven by Kristin R. Crawford, 23, of Marshall, overtook and struck the rear of the vehicle driven by Malter, troopers said.

A third vehicle, a 2004 Ford driven by Arthur J. Bosch, 80, of Pella, Ia., overtook and struck the vehicle driven by Crawford, according to the report.

Crawford and a passenger in her car, Natalia A. Mays, 21, of Marshall, were taken by Saline County ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Another passenger in Crawford's car, Latasha A. Mays, 37, of Marshall, was taken by Slater ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital.

No injuries were reported for Malter or Bosch.

Everyone involved in the crash except Malter was wearing a safety device, according to the report.

Saline County sheriff's deputies and Missouri Department of Transportation workers assisted at the scene.

The investigation continues.
