MHS volleyball: No. 4 Helias sweeps Lady Owls

For a Marshall volleyball team trying to recover from the flu, unbeaten Helias was the wrong opponent to face.

But play the 4th ranked Class 4 team in the state the still-shorthanded Lady Owls did Thursday, suffering a 25-10, 25-13 non-conference home loss to the Lady Crusaders (24-0).

Seniors Morgan Ryther and Jordan Reith each had three kills and senior Kim Deutsch came up with 12 digs for Marshall, which only manager eight service points -- including a Ryther ace.

Junior Becca Keller returned to the line-up to knock down two shots and pull up five attacks and senior Aubrie Plummer assisted seven of the team's 10 kills.

The Lady Owls (10-10-1) will have a few days to get healthy before hosting Boonville in an NCMC match Tuesday.
