Possible grain theft reported

A local farmer reported the loss of a large amount of grain from a bin near her residence Wednesday, Sept. 28.

According to a report from Saline County Sheriff's Department, the victim reported the possible theft of between 500 and 600 bushels of corn from a grain bin on 195th Road. It's believed the theft occurred betweens loads being hauled Wednesday.

Neighboring farmers, the report said, were unable to provide any helpful suspect information. The grain was not insured; its value is estimated at about $1,500.

An investigation continues.
