Lawson pleads guilty to burglary charge

Thursday, October 1, 2009
Sharmin K. Lawson, 39, of Marshall, pleaded guilty in Circuit Court Monday, Sept. 28, to class C felony burglary in the second degree before Judge Dennis A. Rolf.

Lawson was charged in June in connection with the theft of canned goods and a ladder from a Marshall residence. According to the arrest report, Lawson said she thought the house was empty, and wanted to go inside because her daughter was interested in renting the house.

Lawson was sentenced to a five-year term of probation, including 100 hours of community service and random drug and alcohol testing. In addition, she must obtain a GED certificate by Dec. 31, 2010.
