Marshall man charged with 3 counts of assault after weekend incident

Monday, September 28, 2009
A 29-year-old Marshall man was charged Monday, Sept. 28, with three counts of class A misdemeanor domestic assault after an incident Sunday, Sept. 27, in and near Miami.

Bobby G. Hirt was arrested and held in the Saline County Justice Facility Sunday evening on a $2,000 cash-only bond with conditions that he have no contact with a woman he allegedly assaulted and consume no alcohol.

According to a Saline County Sheriff's Department report, Hirt was allegedly intoxicated and became angry when the woman refused to let him drive.

During a trip from Salisbury to Miami, Hirt allegedly became violent, kicking and damaging the windshield, radio and speedometer of the vehicle he and the woman were traveling in, deputies said.

The woman claimed at one point Hirt grabbed the wheel of the car, nearly causing a crash; choked her several times; and once, while the vehicle was stopped and both had exited the vehicle, grabbed her and threw her to the ground, according to the report.

Deputies reported observing evidence of injuries to the woman and of damage to the vehicle.

Editor's note: Charges contained in reports provided by law enforcement officials are not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting charges must be presented before a jury, whose duty is to determine if the accused is guilty or not guilty of the charges.

i am here to tell you as a friend of hers it did happen and there was some issues that i dont agree with and if others reading this dont know the whole story i dont feel like they should be commenting negitive towards her because its something you all dont know about. They have the reports from the sheriffs office and a document from the victim. i have heard of this happening with him. if you look him up he has 7 different records of domestic violence some in second degree and some in 3rd degree so this isnt the first victim for him and prolly wont be the last. in my opinion..

dee62: You said, "I do know that somethings that get printed in the paper are not always correct." We work awfully hard to be sure that what gets into the paper IS correct. Our reports on incidents like this come directly from the police or sheriff's reports on the incident. If you see something you believe is wrong, let us know.

get a clue and born-n-raised,

yes, I do comprehend the artical very well. There are plenty of things that are against the law and thank the Lord drinking and driving are against the law. and alot more thing should be aginst the law, anyway lets move on. I guess what I should have said, Lets let this thing go to court and see what happens. I do know that somethings that get printed in the paper are not always correct. The story that you read sometimes sound alot worse than what really happend. Like what really caused this guy to go off like that ? why was he drinking in the first place ? was the girl drinking too ? how did he throw her to the ground while she was driving? I know it sounds like I am taking up for him,I dont even know him. I hope the woman is okay and they both can get past this and move on with life together or not. I am just writing this as a family member of someone who has troubles of his or her own. It is very hurtful when you read all this stuff in the paper (some it true and some not ) and for people like us to sit back and talk about them. ANYWAY, THIS THANK GOD IS NOT MY PROBLEM. AND FOR YOU I ALSO, I HOPE ITS NOT YOURS.I ALWAYS SAID I WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ANY ARTICAL OF THIS NATURE. YOU KNOW THAT OLD SAYING ABOUT OPINIONS EVERYONE HAS ONE....

BUT THANKS FOR RESOPNDING.

Response by Eric Crump/Editor:
Sorry if the story was confusing. I provided a list of the claims made by the woman, not a full account of what happened where. She did not say he threw her to the ground while she was driving. The vehicle stopped several times during the trip and it was during a stop that she reported she was thrown to the ground. I'll revise the story to make it clearer.

How it is a bad day when the guy is trying to drive intoxicated? That is against the law in every state! The women was scared for her life! Dee62, can you not comprehend the artical?

It's really easy to stay out of the paper, dee62; don't break the law. Speeding tickets and other moving violations used to make the paper, and I got to see my name occasionally. It's public domain.

Is there really nothing to put in the paper than other folks bad day ? we all know that we live in a crazy world. I also know plenty of people that have been in some sort of trouble at least one in their life. You all should be so lucky that its not your loveone we read about everyday. Should it always have to make the paper ? And, no I do not know these people.
