First, the council approved an ordinance amending the city's budget for the 2008-2009 fiscal year to make it balanced.
"We do a number of budget amendments throughout the year," City Administrator Charles Tryban said, and this was the last one.
Tryban said because of a "very good construction year," the city's street department went over budget. Some of those expenditures were paid for out of reserve funds, he said.
The city's general revenue fund had a surplus.
"We actually have good revenue in all the departments," Tryban said.
Council members also approved an appropriations ordinance, paying the city's final bills of the fiscal year.
Council members Barbara Utlaut, Vince Lutterbie, Gabe Ramsey, Dan Brandt, Sam Moten and Ron Duvall were present at the meeting.
The council's next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, Oct. 5, at 5:15 p.m.

What, the council met and didn't vote to spend 100s of thousands of more tax dollars on the airport. Must have been a off night. Who's getting rich on this airport thing anyway?
