Ernest R. "Ernie" Hammer, 75, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Pastor David Hague officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Jan. 23, 1934, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Ernest Ivan Hammer and Anna Mae Dickson Hammer. He had lived in Marshall his entire life and was retired manager of Auto Parts Company in Marshall. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict, and a member of VFW Post 2646 in Marshall and Malta Bend American Legion Post 558.
Survivors include his three children, Elizabeth Hammer Hague of Sedalia, Michael Joseph Hammer of Marshall and Christy Hammer Erickson of Marshall; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Mizer and Gertrude Ash.
