Keith D. Head, 53, of Slater, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Church north of Arrow Rock, with Rev. Tony Gallagher officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, accompanied the congregation in singing "How Great Thou Art." Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery north of Gilliam. Pallbearers were Jeremy Head, Kevin Head, Bobby Thomason, Kerry Dale Klasing, Willie Bryson and Danny Bryson. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Mullins, Robby Ballowe, Rusty Ballowe, Randy Ballowe, Joe Gorham, John Miller, Charlton Head, Jeff Leimkuehler, Mark Klasing, Mike Jewell and Ashley Page. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Feb. 28, 1956, in Milan, he was the son of Billie and Edna Smith Head, who survive of Slater. He graduated from Slater High School in 1974. On Dec. 29, 1991, in Macon, he married Jeweletta Ballowe, who survives of the home. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Church near Arrow Rock. He worked for 18 years for Missouri Department of Transportation.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by one son, Jeremy Head of rural Slater; one daughter, Donetta Head of Kansas City; four grandchildren; one brother, Kevin Head of Slater; and two sisters, Sherrill Klasing and Penney Stanley, both of Slater.
