The Lady Greyhounds gave the visitors a tussle, though head coach Kristen Niemeyer admitted they "tired towards the end" of the match. Even with that, Sweet Springs scored six straight points after falling behind 23-9 in the third set before the Lady Chiefs finished off the win.
Senior Kristin Jones had four kills, four digs and three blocks for the Lady 'Hounds (4-3, 0-1 I-70) -- who also got 13 saves from senior Kim Rennison and five aces by junior Haley Hunter. Senior Kathleen Tyler and junior Shelby Hayworth each had three kills and five saves.
Santa Fe got strong outings from senior Lauren Aversman with six kills and sophomore Lindsey Pemberton with four spikes and nine digs.
Freshman Chelsea Winter dropped in four aces in her first varsity appearance. Junior Anna Sleeper assisted 16 of the team's 29 kills.
While the Lady Chiefs (7-1, 1-1) have a couple of days off before heading to Orrick on Thursday, Sweet Springs hits the road today at Wellington-Napoleon.
