Robert E. "Pee Wee" Conner, 85, of rural Mt. Leonard, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Masonic services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with visitation following from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial with military rites will be in Union Cemetery near Marshall. Born June 14, 1924, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Will Conner and Belle Minor Conner. On July 20, 1950, he married Mildred Gorrell, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County his entire life, was a farmer and a member of Union Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater, was a member of Blackburn-Tieman American Legion Post 478 and VFW Post 2646 in Marshall. He was also a member of Ararat Shriners A.A.O.N.M.S. of Kansas City, Scottish Rite Temple of Kansas City and served as master mason of Waverly Lodge No. 61 A.F. & A.M.
Additional survivors include two sons, Robert E. "Bob" Conner Jr. of Marshall and Seth H. Conner and his wife, Diana, of rural Mt. Leonard; six grandchildren, Dan Conner, Gabe Conner, Sarah Graham, Nicole Aderhold, Bailey Conner and Shea Conner; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Will Conner; three brothers, Frank Conner, John Conner and Preston Conner; and three sisters, Annabelle Kanoy, Sara Hutto and Flora Clatterbuck.
