Sweet Springs volleyball: Lady 'Hounds knock off Smithton

SWEET SPRINGS -- After a rough start, the Sweet Springs volleyball team rolled to a 25-20, 25-10 non-conference home win over Smithton.

Senior Kristin Jones led the Lady Greyhounds' balanced attack with five kills and four assists. Senior Kathleen Tyler and junior Shelby Hayworth also knocked in three shots apiece, with freshman Mikalah Vogelsmeier pulling up four shots.

Tyler and junior Taylor Loges accounted for 12 of Sweet Springs' 15 assists and junior Chelsea Hollrah served up three aces against the Lady Tigers (1-4).

The Lady 'Hounds (3-2) will entertain Calhoun today.
