Slater football: Knox County 51, Slater 7

Monday, September 14, 2009
EDINA -- Knox County avenged last year's loss to Slater by winning the non-conference rematch at home Friday, 51-7.

Senior Kennan Gillaspy ran for two first-half touchdowns, from 55 and 1 yards out, and senior Cameron Kirmse kicked a 30-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 17-0 halftime lead.

Senior Tristan Lonberger's 19-yard run and a 2-yard plunge by junior Brady Morton pushed the margin to 31-0 before the Wildcats got on the board with senior Cody Skinner's 5-yard run.

Knox County (2-1) tacked on three fourth-quarter touchdowns, including Lonberger's second of the game on a 12-yard pass from Gillaspy.

Skinner ran for 89 yards, passed for 42 and had a 20-yard catch for Slater (1-2), which plays Friday at Wentworth Military Academy.
