Lady 'Cats drop L&C debut

Wednesday, September 9, 2009
PARIS -- Paris got five unearned runs in the top of the second inning on one hit, two walks and three errors to down the host Slater softball team Tuesday in the Lewis and Clark Conference opener.

The Lady Wildcats came back with three runs in the bottom half of the frame, junior Marissa Weiher driving in a pair with a triple and scoring on an error. However, junior Kayla Redmon didn't allow another run and the Lady Coyotes (2-4, 1-0 L&C) added to their lead with two-run doubles by sophomore Robyn Havens in the fifth and freshman Haley Fredrick in the sixth.

Sophomore Brooke Clemons had two hits for Slater (2-3, 0-1), which Thursday travels to Marceline.

I find it amusing how Slater plays the Seniors in softball. They have kids commit 4 years and are rewarded by the bench. I wish I could understand.
