2 Marshall woman suffer minor injuries in crash involving 4 vehicles

Wednesday, September 2, 2009
Two Marshall women suffered minor injuries Wednesday, Sept. 2, in a crash on U.S. Highway 65 involving four vehicles, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Tina L. Johnson, 34, and Joellen D. Pointer, 27, each declined treatment at the scene, troopers said.

The accident occurred about 5 p.m. just west of Elm Street.

The 2005 Pontiac driven by Pointer and a 2002 Honda driven by Steven L. Hathaway, 40, of Columbia, were stopped in traffic. A 2002 Ford driven by Johnson was slowing as it approached them when it was overtaken by a 2005 Chevrolet driven by Jeremy W. Rutledge, 32, of Waverly, troopers said.

The vehicle driven by Rutledge struck the rear of the vehicle driven by Johnson, which then struck the vehicle driven by Hathaway. Hathaway's vehicle then struck Pointer's vehicle, according to the report.

All four drivers were wearing safety belts, troopers said. The investigation continues.
