Slater school board sets tax levy

Friday, August 28, 2009

The Slater school board set its tax levy during a brief meeting Friday, Aug. 28 at Slater High School.

The board voted unanimously to approve the property tax levy at $4.4143 per $100 of assessed property. The operating levy was set at $3.8531 and the debt service levy was set at $.5612.

Superintendent John McEachern also gave the board members updated plans for the proposed pre-k and kindergarten building, asking them to look over them during the weekend.

"Let me know what your thoughts are so I can relay that information to him on the plans," said McEachern.

The board met with Sedalia architect Rob Rollings on Monday, Aug. 24 to discuss the preliminary building plans.

The board plans to have final drawings ready by the middle of September, when they will hold an informational meeting about the $1.3 million bond issue placed on the November ballot.

After adjourning, the board went into executive session to discuss personnel issues.

Joey Gochenour, who is deployed in Iraq with the National Guard, was the only board member absent.

More information to follow.
