The ceremony had been set for Friday, Sept. 11, but it will now take place Friday, Oct. 16, at 3:15 p.m.
Completion of the bridge has been delayed to October, which prompted the department to reschedule the ceremony, officials said in a news release.
High water in the Missouri River, along with other problems encountered during erection of the steel girders, has delayed the original schedule.
"We certainly understand the inconvenience these delays have caused the citizens of Glasgow and the surrounding communities," said Construction Engineer Dennis Brucks. "Offering the ferry service free of charge since August 4, and delaying the start of the Miami Bridge project, were decisions we made to help minimize the inconvenience."
The ceremony will take place in Stump Island Park. Senator Kit Bond and other state and local dignitaries will join the celebration. More details on the ceremony will be forthcoming.
