Anna Vogl Desmond, 92, of rural Napton, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Kevin Gormley officiating. Prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, with visitation following from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born Feb. 17, 1917, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Gabriel Vogl and Anna Hummel Vogl. On April 12, 1944, she married Jack Desmond, who preceded her in death on June 23, 1985. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and had worked at Marshall Habilitation Center for 15 years. After her retirement, she worked for the Foster Grandparent Program for several years. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, John "Jack" Desmond of rural Arrow Rock and Larry Desmond and wife, Barbara, of rural Napton; four step-grandsons; nine step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
