Donald G. Riddle, 85, of Slater, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Rev. Pam Sebastian will officiate. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "How Great Thou Art" and "Whispering Hope." Burial with military honors will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Markovich, Harry Lightfoot, Mike Dennis and Mike Rogers. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Slate Senior Center.
Born Aug. 25, 1924, in Kansas City, he was the son of the late Claude and Nora Lee Rouse Riddle. On Sept. 21, 1946, in Slater, he married Nadine Wood, who survives of the home. He was a member and deacon of Slater Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Manor Bread Co. for many years as a deliveryman and later as an agent for Metropolitan Insurance Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lynda Davis of Moberly; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Norman R. "Randy" Riddle, and three sisters.
